He was predeceased by: his parents, Detlef Dau (Ted) and Linda Dau Schnepel; his stepfather Gifford Schnepel; and his brothers, Donald and Merlin.
He is survived by: his wife Vivian Dau of Oakland, Iowa; his sons, Rick Dau of Omaha, Nebraska, Mike Dau of Huxley, Iowa and Jeff Dau (Erin) of Omaha, Nebraska; his grandchildren, Grant of Omaha, Nebraska and Lauren Dau of Omaha, Nebraska; his stepgranddaughter Noelle Roxburgh (Jeremy) of Omaha, Nebraska; and his siblings-in-law, Lois Dau of Osceola, Iowa, Delores Dau of Rural Oakland, Iowa, Mary Chipman of Omaha, Nebraska and Galen Chipman (Anita) of Waukee, Iowa.
