It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Gertrude Matthies (Avoca, Iowa), born in Audubon, Iowa, who passed away on April 14, 2022, at the age of 100, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, John Murray and Goldie Murray (Miller); her son Stanley; her siblings, Mildred, Vernon and Dorothy; and her siblings-in-law, Gerald Martin, Darrell Bauerkemper, Laverne Kozisek, Joe Ausdemore, Ruth Murray and Maude Ausdemore.
She is survived by: her husband Fred Matthies of Atlantic, Iowa; her children, Douglas Matthies (Margo) of Walnut, Iowa, Robert Matthies (Verna) of Anita, Iowa and Darla Snyder (Sherman) of Walnut, Iowa; her daughter-in-law Sally Matthies of Walnut, Iowa; and her sister-in-law Norma Jean Kozisek of David City, Nebraska. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren.
