It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Donald LaVerne Nelsen in Avoca, Iowa, who passed away on September 4, 2022, at the age of 79, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Emmert Nelsen and Margaret Nelsen (Herron) of Audubon, Iowa.; his daughter Teresa Kardell; his siblings, Arnold Nelsen and Marie Myers; and his parents-in-law, Samuel, Elvira Andersen, Ben Myers, Robert Rattenborg, Betsy Nelsen, Norma, Big John Wanniger, Evelyn, Bob Wiges, Milo Andersen, James Andersen, LaVerne, Ivy Andersen and Betty Andersen.
He is survived by: his wife Dorothy Andersen (Andersen); his friend Dick Brown; his children, Nicholas Nelsen of Avoca, Andrea Danker (Kerry) of Avoca and James Nelsen (Jenny) of Van Meter, IA.; his siblings, Darrell Nelsen (Sue) of Audubon, Tom Nelsen of Audubon, Vitta Rattenborg of Audubon, Frank Nelsen (Marlene) and Phyliss Nelsen of Des Moines, IA.; his grandchildren, Derek Kardell (Monica), Lynnsey Hargens (Joe) of Elk Horn, NE, Erika Van Cleave (Chris) of Avoca, Hunter Nelsen of Avoca, Courtney Robinson (Tyler) of Avoca, Christian Danker (Paige) of Avoca, Ashtyn Danker of Avoca, Makai Nelsen and Van Meter; his great grandchildren, Maddix Fye, Jaycey, Jordy Hargens, Peyton, Marley Van Cleave and Navi Robinson; his friend Jim Sievers; his grandchild Bodhi Nelsen; and also, Donald Andersen (Janice), Dale Andersen and Carroll. He is also survived by several nephews, nieces and many friends.
