He was predeceased by: his parents, Ted Ubben and Irene Ubben (Rykena); his parents-in-law, Dr. Francis and Mary Houlihan; his siblings-in-law, Patricia Nollette, Mike Houlihan and Ronnie Carruthers; and his nephew Rick Nollette.
He is survived by: his wife Sharon Ubben; his sons, Terry (Echo) of Ankeny, Ryan (Colette) of St. Ansgar, Pat (Trisha) of Ackley and Kent (Gina) of Austinville; his siblings, Dale (Lori) of Austinville, Marilyn La Pierre of Brandon, Mississippi and Colleen Carruthers of Ankeny; and his brother-in-law Ron Nollette of Omaha. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and five step-great-grandchildren; multitude of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
