She was predeceased by: her parents, Herman McKenzie and Ona McKenzie (Mongan); her husband Gordon Carstens; her daughter Pamela Carstens; her siblings, Gerald McKenzie (Anna Belle) and Betty McKenzie; her son-in-law David Stodden; and her brother-in-law Rodney Bainbridge.
She is survived by: her daughters, Joyce White (Lynn) of Stratford, Sally Stodden of Marcus and Peggy Seel (Roger) of Cherokee, Iowa; her grandchildren, Karl Stodden (Jenn) of LeMars, Tim Stodden of Marcus, Barb Stodden of Forest Grove, Adam Stodden (Amanda Snowden) of Colfax, Ginny Eskildsen (Bill) of Kansas City, Ben Seel (Jenn) of Independence, Fred Seel (Candi) of Kansas City and Mari Seel (Reid Petersen) of Ottumwa, Iowa; her great grandchildren, D. J., Hunter Stodden, Leah, Colin Eskildsen, Maddie, Nic, Theo, McKenzie Seel, Alina and Christina Seel; and her siblings, Priscilla Bainbridge of Cherokee, Iowa and Stan McKenzie (Mary Jo) of Rogers, Arkansas. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Saturday, January 4th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Boothby Funeral Home (207 E Main St, Cherokee, IA 51012). A funeral service was held on Saturday, January 4th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
