He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilmer Clyde and Ora Frances Ballantyne (Stewart); his wife Mary Louise Peterson; his grandchildren, Nicole, Megan Ballantyne and Joshua Witte; his great grandchild Logan Rivers; his sister Barbara (Bob Nelson); and his sisters-in-law, Iva Julius and Linda Rohlfs.
He is survived by: his children, Carol J. Coombs (Scott Friedrich), Connie (Gary Ludwig), Cathy (Terry Coombs), Carla (Tom Jones), Craig (Carol Ballantyne), Cindy (Doug Cannon) and Chris (Shelley Ballantyne); and his brothers-in-law, Dale Julius of Cherokee and Willy Rohlfs of Palmer, IA. He is also survived by twenty one grandchildren, twenty nine great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren.
