He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman Kai and Edna Kai (Lawton); his siblings, Floyd, Paul, Charles Kai, Alice Schleusener, Ruby Duncan and Ann Kai; and his siblings-in-law, Art Schleusenar, LeRoy Duncan and Rosemary Kai.
He is survived by: his wife Janet Rhea of Aurelia; his children, Sheila Rohlk (Doug Patten) of Cherokee, Jeff (Cindy Kai) of Aurelia and Marcia (Tom Brolsma) of Hampton, IA; his grandchildren, Sara (Chez Moore) of Des Moines, Brandon (Ashley Rohlk) of Wauwatosa, WI, Emily Rohlk of Spencer and Brent (Kelli Kai); his great grandchildren, Kolby and Romy of Cedar Falls, IA; his grandchild Shana (Drew Wieland); his great grandchildren, Reese, Evie, Delta of Aurelia, Leah Kai of Sioux Falls, SD and Tanner Brolsma (Gracie Deery) of Sioux Falls; his granddaughter Katie Brolsma of Chariton, IA.; his siblings, Glenn (Roberta Kai) of Bancroft, NE, Robert (Glenda Kai) of Lincoln, NE and Sybil Kai of Bancroft; and his sister-in-law Connie Kai of Omaha, NE. He is also survived by nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Cherokee Regional Medical Center Hospice or the Aurelia First United Methodist Church.
