With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Charles W. Wharton of Aurelia, Iowa, who passed away on April 16, 2022 at the age of 97. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, George Wharton and Julia Wharton (Wightman); his former wife Delores M. Kaskey; his son-in-law Paul Holton; his brother George (Florence Wharton); and his siblings-in-law, Gene (Emma Kaskey) and Sandra Kaskey.
He is survived by: his wife Opal Wharton of Cherokee; his children, Ann Holton of Coralville, IA, Mark (Karen Wharton) of Omaha, NE and Paul Wharton (David Bohlig) of Minneapolis, MN; his stepchildren, Janet (Patrick Eisenmenger) of Hendersonville, TN and Dr. Thomas (Laura Pratt) of Sioux City, IA.; his grandchildren, Emily Wharton (Shawn Mayo), Amanda (Ben Hunt) of Omaha, NE, Kimberly (Erich Matteson) of Bettendorf, IA and Stephen (Kelli Holton) of North Liberty, IA; and his siblings-in-law, Vernon Kaskey of Naples, FL and Cynthia Kaskey of Cherokee, IA. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, six step-great-grandchildren.
The Wharton family has requested that memorials be directed to the St. Paul Lutheran Church, the Aurelia Fire & Rescue Dept., or the Aurelia Public Library in lieu of flowers.
