He was predeceased by: his parents, Lois Janet Schmidt (Blair) and Duane Schmidt; his brother-in-law Gary Fancher; and his nephew Michael Schmidt. He is survived by: his close friend Christina Cheney of Dubuque, Iowa; his siblings, Joan "Joni" Fancher of Audubon, Dan (Christine Schmidt) of Audubon and Dean (Julie Schmidt) of Spirit Lake, Iowa; and his nieces and nephews, Brooke (Jerod Burns) of Brooklyn, Justin (Katy Fancher) of Grimes, Cara (Brad Whipple) of Ankeny, Ben (Jenny Schmidt) of Polk City, Alli (Sam Erdahl) of Elkhart, Brad Schmidt of Urbandale, Beth Henderson of Urbandale, Leslie (Matthew Thomas) of Urbandale, Taylor Roseboom and Nick Wenger of Ankeny, Iowa. He is also survived by 15 great nieces and great nephews; other relatives and many friends.
