Gert Madsen Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Gert Madsen of Audubon, Iowa, born in Des Moines, Iowa, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on October 31, 2024 at the age of 94. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Gert Madsen to pay them a last tribute.
She was predeceased by: her parents, George Bowman and Helen Burkhardt Bowman; her sister Mary Louise Jensen; and her son Mark Madsen of Albuquerque, NM.. She is survived by: her husband William Madsen of Patrick's Catholic Church; her brother Jim Bowman of Urbandale, IA; and her children, John (Pat Madsen), Dr. Jim (Amy Madsen), Dr. Jill Madsen of Sumter, SC, Julie (Craig Jensen) and Joni Madsen (Bill Fankell). She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and several cousins.
Visitation was held on Monday, November 4th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home - Audubon (515 S Division St, Audubon, IA 50025). A rosary was held on Monday, November 4th 2024 from 6:00 PM to 6:30 PM at the same location. A funeral Mass was held on Tuesday, November 5th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the St Patrick's Catholic Church (116 E Division St, Audubon, IA 50025). A committal service was held on Tuesday, November 5th 2024 from 10:45 AM to 11:00 AM at the St Patrick's Catholic Cemetery (116 E Division St, Audubon, IA 50025). A reception was held on Tuesday, November 5th 2024 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the St Patrick Parish Center (102 N Market St, Audubon, IA 50025).
