He was predeceased by: his son Kevin Gene of Des Moines; his granddaughter Kristine Heller; his parents, Marvel and Gladys; his in-laws, Albert and Magdalen Murray; his sisters, Kay Sodemann and Patricia Scott; and his siblings-in-law, Jim Sodemann, Gary Crees, Colleen Murray, Mary Collette Murray-Daily and Jane Wiggins.
He is survived by: his wife Lavonne Marie Murray of Patrick's Catholic Church; his daughters, Cynthia Heller (Mark) of Audubon and Kimberly; his grandchildren, Angela Hatlevig (Jeff), Matt Heller (Kim), Emily Shoesmith (Jake Wascisin), Trystin Shoesmith and Allison Hupp; his great grandchildren, Josie, Amelia, Landon Hatlevig, Bennett and Tessa Heller; and his siblings, Sandra Crees, Donna Gregersen (John), Karen Voight (Dave) and Darwin Shoesmith (Kathy). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
