She was predeceased by: her fathers, Floyd Ackerman and Cecil Ackerman (Rupp); her husband Roy Newberg; her son Michael; and her siblings, Hazel Taylor and Everett Ackerman.

She is survived by: her children, Pat Newberg (Denise) of Oakland, IA and Sheila Kunze (Kendal) of Lewis, IA; her grandchildren, Jason Newberg (Jennifer) of Colorado Springs, CO, Jodi Eakin (Chris) of Omaha, NE, Brett Newberg (Brandie) of Norwalk, IA, Elizabeth Behnken (Josh) of Atlantic, IA, Zach Newberg (Laura) of Polk City, IA, Jordan Newberg (Olivia) of Atlantic, IA and Nick Newberg of Noblesville, IN; her brother Laverne Ackerman (Karen) of Atlantic, IA; and her brother-in-law Ray Newberg (Charlotte). She is also survived by 25 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to the family to be used per Ruth's wishes.
