He was predeceased by: his parents, James Mervin and Lois Muriel Swope (Evans); his former wives, Judy and Ellen; and his son Richard Dean.
He is survived by: his wife Brenda Swope of Atlantic, IA; his son Michael James Swope of Arizona; his stepchildren, Melissa Ihnen (Bill) of Wiota, IA, Marcy Jo Dorsey of Atlantic, IA, Chris Schroder (Crystal) of Atlantic, IA and Michelle Schroder of Atlantic, IA; and his sister Madeline Roberts (Bill) of South Carolina. He is also survived by his grandchildren; his great grandchildren; his step grandchildren; his step great grandchildren.
