He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Smith and Elva Smith (Reed); his siblings, George Smith, Carlton Smith, Basil Smith, Donald Smith and Karen Smith; and his siblings-in-law, Howard Gregerson, William Webster, Carol Smith and Ethel Smith.

He is survived by: his wife Jean Smith (Walker); his children, Sherrie Marousek (David), Terry Smith (Lacy) and Douglas Smith (Colleen); his grandchildren, Ashley Messerli (Pete), Robert Marousek, Sarah Jones, Andrew Thompson Smith (Caitlin), Kyle Smith (Johanna) and Byron Smith (Elizabeth); his great grandchildren, Taylor Messerli, Logan Messerli, Edith Jones and Christopher Smith; and his siblings, Helen Gregerson, Doris Webster, Gordon Smith and Edward Smith (Jolene). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
