He was predeceased by: his parents, Ebrahim Kia and Fatemeh Kia (Jahandar). He is survived by: his daughter Rebecca; his wife Diana Kia of Atlantic, IA; his children, John Kia (Carla) of Berthoud, CO, Becky Mills (Matt) of Atlantic, IA and David Kia (Michelle) of Council Bluffs, IA; and his grandchildren, Rachel Kia McGee, Katharine Kia Mayberry, Lauren Kia, Heidi Vanderholm, Jody Vanderholm, April Vanderholm, Dominic Kia and Alexander Kia. He is also survived by one brother, two sisters, many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
