It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Karen Marie Berger of Atlantic, Iowa, who passed away on February 3, 2025, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Ross Smith and Marie Smith (Henneberg); her husband Wilbur Berger; her son Ross; her parents-in-law, Wayne and Nellie Berger; her brothers, Bob and Guy; and her sister-in-law Judy Smith.
She is survived by: her daughter Virginia of Adel; her nephews, Shane Smith (Diana) of Anita and Shad Smith (Jill) of Papillion, NE; her niece Ellen Rude (Patrick) of Whitefish, MT; and her sister-in-law Glenda Smith of Whitefish, MT. She is also survived by family members and friends.
Visitation was held on Friday, February 7th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home - Atlantic (1804 E 7th St, Atlantic, IA 50022). A funeral service was held on Saturday, February 8th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 10:40 AM at the United Methodist Church (104 Center St, Wiota, IA 50274).
Memorials can be made in her name to the Anita Food Pantry and left or mailed to the Schmidt Family Funeral Home at PO Box 523 - Atlantic, IA.
