He was predeceased by: his parents, Theodore Gehling and Catherine Gehling (Hoffman); and his siblings, Marie Eschen (Rod), Lucille Jackley (Jim), Anna Rath (Herman), Frank Gehling (Norma Jean), Leonard Gehling, Vincent Gehling, Leo Gehling and Helen Gray.
He is survived by: his wife Marjorie May Dalhoff; his children, Philip, Patrick Gehling of Denison, IA, Peggy Rater (Tony Keck) of Lenexa, KS, Tim Gehling (Leslie) of Runnells, IA, Phillip Gehling of Atlantic and Pam Ticknor (Jerry) of Winterset, IA; his grandchildren, Erika Rater, Corey Gehling, Bryce Gehling, Natalie Ticknor, Hailey Gehling, Kyle Gehling and Micheal Gehling; his sister Freda Barron of Niles, MI; and his sisters-in-law, Irma and Donna Gehling. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
