He was predeceased by: his parents, Cecil Daniel and Kathryn Caroline Murphy (Kurtenbach); and his brothers, Bob and Bill Murphy. He is survived by: his wife Lila Mae High; his children, Dennis Murphy (Mary) of Atlantic, Duane Murphy (Vicki) of Anita and Lorri Johnston (David) of Waukee; his grandchildren, Brandon Murphy (Cara) of Anita, Brady Murphy (Isabel Lund) of Anita and Lexi Johnston of Waukee; his great grandchildren, Bentley and Tucker Murphy; his brother Larry Murphy (Deb) of Council Bluffs; and his sisters-in-law, Kay Murphy of Stuart and Judy Murphy of Wiota.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family for designation at a later date.
