Iona Bornholdt Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Iona Bornholdt of Atlantic, Iowa, who passed away on October 31, 2021, at the age of 98, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, John Henry Marxen Sr. and Lola May Marxen (DeBord); her brother John Henry Jr.; her husband Carl Bornholdt; her son Calvin; her brother Ralph Marxen; her great grandchild Jackson Johnson; her brother-in-law Wayne McFadden; and also, Helen, Janis, Ross, Arlin, Everett, Donald and Max.
She is survived by: her daughters, Karen Johnson (Bill) of Avoca and Sherry Duffey (Ken) of Iowa City; her sister Shirley McFadden of Atlantic; her daughter-in-law Roseanna Bornholdt of San Diego, CA; and her siblings-in-law, Linda Marxen of Fayetteville, NC, Robert Bornholdt of Elkhorn and Darlene Hess of Harlan. She is also survived by eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be given to the Atlantic Public Library (Mickey loved to read) or to Meals on Wheels of Atlantic.
