He was predeceased by: his parents, William Clayton and Ruth Acker (Shirley); his sister Virginia Lorraine Rasmussen; his grandson Clayton Nygaard; and his sister-in-law Jeannie Hansen Jones of Shell Knob, MO..
He is survived by: his wife Shirley; his daughter Diane (Terry Nygaard); his grandson Eric of Overland Park, KS; his daughter LuAnn Acker (Bill Tout); and his brother-in-law John Rasmussen of Temecula, CA. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A memorial service was held on Wednesday, December 18th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home - Atlantic (1804 E 7th St, Atlantic, IA 50022). A reception was held on Wednesday, December 18th 2024 from 2:30 PM to 3:45 PM at the same location.
In honor of Duane, memorials may be directed to the Heritage House, First Presbyterian Church of Atlantic, or the YMCA Atlantic.
