He was predeceased by: his parents, Eugene Popp and Marilyn Blanchard (Leslie) of Atlantic, IA; his brother Gary Popp; and his brother-in-law David "Ski" Borkowski. He is survived by: his wife Tamara Jo Steffens of Atlantic, IA.; his children, James Darrow (Kara) of Atlantic, IA, Gary Popp of Ida Grove, IA, Nicole Popp of Atlantic, IA and Krystina Elings (Ashton) of Brayton, IA; his grandchildren, Hailey Hensel, Dazia Sorensen, Xavier Darrow, Aunika Darrow, Quinten Popp, Kordell Popp, Garrison Popp, Rylan Glissmann, Kirra Popp, Nora Bruns, Slade Sandbothe and Lane Elings; his siblings, Frannie Nissen, Diane Borkowski and Zachary Blanchard; and his stepfather Mike Blanchard.
