He was predeceased by: his parents, Hio Helmers and Anna Helmers (Freesemann); his former wife Sheryl Helmers; his daughter Laurilyn Helmers; and his siblings, Raymond, Irvin, Albert, Marlin, Phoebe and Esther.
He is survived by: his former wife Sheryl Rae Blumeyer; his wife Jeanne Frick; his sons, Timothy, Todd Helmers (Linda) of Spirit Lake, IA and Thomas Helmers (Carrie) of Parker, CO; his son-in-law Kirk Manske of Coralville, IA; and his stepchildren, Diana Stewart (Matt) of Oelwein, IA, Jan Reeves (Steve) of Bondurant, IA, Sheila Christians (Ben) of Sibley, IA, Steve Frick of Linn Grove, IA, Nancy Dreessen (Brent) of Sibley, IA, Jim Frick (Tammy) of Milford, IA and Dave Frick (Keri Jo) of Boyden, IA. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; twenty-two step-grandchildren and thirty step-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and other extended family.
