He was predeceased by: his parents, Theodore "Fritzy" and Barbara Schmitz (Schenkelberg); his brothers, Elmer "Porky" Schmitz and Hubert John "Jack" Schmitz; and his siblings-in-law, Eileen Schmitz, Mark Ahmann and Gladys Schmitz.
He is survived by: his siblings, Clair Schmitz (Leona) of Carroll, Marian Schmitz of Arcadia and Jane Ahmann of Wayne, Nebraska. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended relatives and many friends.
