He was predeceased by: his wife Susan. He is survived by: his siblings, Don Suominen (Paula) and Jane Suominen; his nephew David Suominen (Lindsay); his great-nephews, Michael Suominen and Jacob Suominen; his goddaughters, Carrie Bauer (Michael) and Alice Kulinski; his sister-in-law Jan Rzentkowski (Jim); and also, Christopher and Ruthie. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions can be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ankeny.
