He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Marvin, Betty Whitaker, Clyde and Ione Culmer; and his uncle Stephen Culmer.

He is survived by: his parents, Steven Whitaker and Nancy Whitaker (Culmer); his brother Timothy (Leah); his aunts, Sheryl Shaw (Steve) of Oskaloosa, Sue Grove (Phil) of Van Meter and Donna Culmer; his uncle Dan Culmer (Karen) of Alberta Canada; and his cousins, Kristin, Jeff, Kara, Katrina, Audrey, Breanna, Jed, Corissa, Collin, Jessica and Nathan.

Memorials may be directed to the Food Bank of Iowa.
