He is survived by: his wife Diana Shafer (Bearbower); his son Todd Shafer (Rose) of Ankeny, IA; his grandchildren, Sarah Shafer of Dubuque, IA and Ben Shafer of Ames, IA; his brother Joe Shafer (Donna Jean) of Crystal River, FL; his nephews, Bob Shafer and John Shafer; and his niece Laura Wilder.
