She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Howard A. Furman and Thora E Furman (Christensen) of Kamrar, Iowa.; her former husband George H. Hovland; her son Mark; her husband Irving H. Egeland; her siblings, Gary and Mary; her daughters, Michele Richardson (Reginald), Kathleen Hovland and Anne Owens (Thomas); and her sisters, Jane Baldus and Gretchen Zickefoose. She was also cherished by 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

Sarah requested that memorials be given to Hope Ministries: Bethel Mission in downtown Des Moines, IA or Wildwood Hill Ranch of Iowa, 2552 Union Lane, St Charles, Iowa 50240.
