With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Richard G. Rasmussen of Ankeny, Iowa, who passed away on May 20, 2022 at the age of 85. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Richard G. Rasmussen to pay them a last tribute.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Victor Rasmussen and Lily Rasmussen of Audubon; his sister Rosella; and his brothers-in-law, Lyle Hanson and Richard Boynton.

He is survived by: his wife Sue of Ankeny; his children, Jeff (Elaine) of Cameron, WI, Greg of Ankeny, Brad (Nicolee) of Adel, IA and Julie of Ankeny; and his grandchildren, Matt, Ryan, Taylor, Alisha and Mario.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.

“In loving memory of Richard G. Rasmussen, Dick was so much more to me then Coach. He was my High School best friends Dad and he cared for me as part of the family. My heart is broken for Julie and Sue and the rest of the family! May God bring peace and calm to their grieving hearts. Many lessons Coach and Dad taught me I carry with me 35 years later. His character spoke volumes and although he was a legend on the field, more importantly he was a legendary human who I'm blessed to have known.”
