He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Harold Smith and Edith Smith (Blum); his wife Mary Joan Schmadeke; his children, Douglas (Marion), Brenda, Drew (Sue) and Scott (Deb); his grandchildren, Justin Topp (Meta), Shannon, Rachel, Whitney Bellinghausen (Craig), Alex and Kyle (Lizz); his stepgrandchildren, Natalie and Daniella Strasburg; his great grandchildren, Ashleigh Topp, Aimee Topp, Parker Jayne Topp and Lincoln Bellinghausen; and his brother Claire.
