She was predeceased by: her husband Merle Duane Nieman; her parents, Martin William and Inez Eleanor Read; and her siblings, James Read, David Read, Phyllis Haden (Read) and Richard Read.

She is survived by: her daughters, Marcia Peeler (Ron) of Indianola and Marlys Lietz (Christopher) of Boulder, Colorado; her grandchildren, Erin Ball Peeler (Steve), Andra Peeler DiMarco (Greg), Emma Lietz Bilecky (Tyler), Andrew Peeler (Haley), Calvin Lietz (Sarah) and Clara Lietz; and her great grandchildren, Levino and Rocco DiMarco.
