Joseph Hanssen Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joseph Hanssen of Ankeny, Iowa, born in New Rochelle, New York, who passed away on September 14, 2023, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Willem Hanssen and Theresia Hanssen of Belgium; his siblings, Jan (Lillo), Herman (Lilly), Anna (Louis), Molly (Jack) and Cyrille (Doris); his parents-in-law, Rose and Martin Bunjer; his brother Lonnie; and his siblings-in-law, Theatta Brandmeyer and Virgil Bunjer.

He is survived by: his son Joseph Jr. (Deborah); his wife Marlene Hanssen; his children, Theresa Hanssen (Jim Doggett) and James Hanssen (Claire); his grandchildren, Abigail, Jacob, Ethan, Willem, Liam and Emilie Hanssen; and his sister-in-law Dolores Bunjer. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and loving family and friends.
