It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Jeri Sommars (Ankeny, Iowa), who passed away on February 22, 2023, at the age of 75, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Sommars and Mildred Kelber; his siblings, Ted Sommars, Sharon Barnes and Bob Sommars; and his grandchildren, Nicholas and Tabitha.

He is survived by: his children, Angelisa Sommars, Amie Sommars Elsinger (Bruce) and Kenny Sommars (Tina); his grandchildren, Michael, Shayelyn, Jayde, Paige and Jazlene; and his siblings, Tim Sommars and Shelly Clark. He is also survived by his loving family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Polk County Veterans Affairs.

“It's surreal that Jeris gone, somehow it seemed he would be always a staple. He was ornery, funny but most all he was my friend. He introduced to my husband Jeff Ruden and that gift the best of my life for 23 years. He was just that way, doing good where he could. I will miss you, and always be thankful for the memories you left me. Rest in peace my friend.”
