He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Glen Nelson and Marion Nelson (Jensen); his wife Helen C. Ford (Steak Harbor Restaurant); his children, Joan Schoon (Kelvin), James, Jr. Nelson (Melissa) and Dottie Butler-Figley; his grandchildren, Danielle Hockenberry (Eric), Tim Nelson (Kelsey) and Brandt Butler; his great grandchild Joelle Hockenberry; and his siblings, Harriet Nelson, Connie Williams (Ron), David Nelson and Grant Nelson (Maxine).

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family to be used in planting trees in memory of Jim.

A Memory never forgotten. Lori contacted me about Jim's passing. I'm sending a card today. My deepest Sympathy, Prayers are with you and your family. I moved out of our home 01 August 2019. I now live at Good Samaritan Apts. Senior Living, Ottumwa, Ia. No more maitenance for me. Love, Diane Lockwood”
