He was predeceased by: his parents, Milo Sewell and Mary Sewell; his sister Leona; his daughter Dianna West; his grandsons, Thomas Jefferson West (T. J.) and Jessie Simpson; and his great grandchild Shaun Howe.
He is survived by: his wife Marilyn; and his children, Lynette Young, Deborah Yeager-Ames, Julie Kyle, Gene Sewell, Jr., Dr. Daniel Sewell, Brian Sewell and Chet Sewell-Thurston. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
