He was predeceased by: his parents, Merwyn Betz and Freda Betz; and his brother Leighton Betz. He is survived by: his wife Janet; his children, Phil (Barb), Paul and Ellen Long (Ryan); his grandchildren, Mandy Ellis (Chris), Tyler Betz (Kat), Pamela Speed (David), Samantha Betz, James Betz (Sydney), Silas Betz, Jared Long and Mercedez Long; his great grandchildren, Camden, Anya, Aria Ellis, Josiah, Micah Speed, Liam, Lucy Betz and Eli Betz; his siblings, Randall Betz (Kay) and Sharon Morrow; and his sister-in-law Barbara Betz.

In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be given to Iowa Regular Baptist Camp or Ankeny Baptist Church.
