It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Donna Jean (Mathahs) Penaluna of Ankeny, Iowa, who passed away on January 18, 2022, at the age of 82, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Vernon Mathahs and Grace Mathahs (Baumann); and her former husband Ken. She is survived by: her husband Kenneth Penaluna; her children, Dan Penaluna (Lisa Sweet-Penaluna) of Ankeny and Sue Ward (Tom) of Iowa City; her grandchildren, Brandan (Tori), Carissa, Jordan, Cadan Penaluna, Bryce (Heather), Brennan Dake, Dawson Sweet, Tyler and Caitlin Ward (Brandon Lauck); and her sister Carol Costello (Larry) of Ventura, Iowa. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Donna's name to Our Lady's Immaculate Heart Catholic Church of Ankeny or Care Initiatives Hospice of Des Moines.
