It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Charles Herfkens (Ankeny, Iowa), who passed away on November 6, 2023, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Charles Herfkens to pay them a last tribute.

He was predeceased by: his mother Dorothy; and his daughter Sandra. He is survived by: his wife Geri (Politano); and his daughters, Teresa Herfkens of Des Moines, Janice Thomas (Mark) of Des Moines, Judith Svendsen (Steven) of Clive and Tammy Mashaqi (Faysal) of Burlington Township. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Vincent DePaul Food Pantry (1426 6th Ave., Des Moines, IA 50314) or Our Lady's Immaculate Heart Catholic Church.
