He was predeceased by: his parents, Ervin Zimmerman and Clotene Zimmerman (Kilgore); his brothers, Steven and Russell Zimmerman; his parents-in-law, Chleo and Leota Phillips; and his brother-in-law Tom Phillips.
He is survived by: his wife Helen Kay Zimmerman of Anita, IA; his children, Bryan Jesse (Angie Zimmerman) of Boone, IA and Rena Beth Sands of Granger, IA; his grandchildren, Mason, Matthew Zimmerman, Jacob and Ashlyn Sands; his sisters, Joyce Jones and Peggy Zimmerman; and his sisters-in-law, Shelley Zimmerman and Rosalie Phillips. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, January 10th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home - Atlantic (1804 E 7th St, Atlantic, IA 50022). A funeral service was held on Saturday, January 11th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the United Methodist Church. A committal service was held on Saturday, January 11th 2025 from 11:15 AM to 11:30 AM at the Evergreen Cemetery. A reception was held on Saturday, January 11th 2025 from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM at the Anita Community Center (805 Main St, Anita, IA 50020).
Memorials can be made in his name to either the United Methodist Church or the Anita Fire Department and can be mailed to the funeral home at PO Box 523 - Atlantic, IA in care of the Zimmerman Family or left at the funeral home.
