It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joe Sobotka of Andrew, Iowa, who passed away on January 4, 2025, at the age of 95, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Andrew Joseph and Eva Marie Sobotka (Driskill); his siblings, Bernard (Marlyn), Wallace (Patty), Chuck, Elbert and Maxine Myers (Bill); his brothers-in-law, Darland McGinnis and Carroll Strange; and his in-laws, Evelyn, Don Dowell, Marlene Linkvis, Charles, Charlene Brott, Robert and Nelda Linkvis.
He is survived by: his wife Bernadine Sobotka of Diagonal; his children, Mark Sobotka of Fort Myers, FL, Kenny (DeeDee Sobotka) of Diagonal, Tina Haley (Jack) of Creston and Annie Brill (Todd) of Bedford; his grandchildren, Amber Elliott (Lester) of Diagonal, Jennifer Sobotka of Diagonal, Lacy Doolittle (Jeff) of Diagonal, Andy Haley (Gabby) of Diagonal, Barry Brill (Andria) of Granger and Amy Teeters (Eric Caldwell); his great grandchildren, Kimber, Jaylynn, Brody, Bradon, Jaxson, Kennedy, Karlie and Karson; his sisters, Margaret McGinnis and Sheryl Strange; his sisters-in-law, Janis Sobotka and Cawren Sobotka; and his in-laws, Gene Linkvis, Larry and Bonnie Bailey. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held on Friday, January 10th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the United Church of Diagonal (400 Adams St, Diagonal, IA 50845). A funeral service was held on Friday, January 10th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
Memorials are to the United Church of Diagonal and the Bohemian Cemetery.
