She was loved and cherished by many people including: her husband Dirk; her sons, Jesse Downing (Betsy) and Joel Downing (Mallory); her grandchildren, Remi, Karter, Theo and Brooks; her siblings, Bill Merritt, Susan Merritt and Jodie Merritt Ludwig; and also Patricia Merritt. She was also cherished by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws.
