It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Virgil Dene Buffington of Ames, Iowa, who passed away on February 19, 2024, at the age of 79, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Clifford Buffington and Anna Buffington; his wife Jolene; and his siblings, Karol Buffington, Darwin Buffington, Mike Buffington and Gary Buffington.
He is survived by: his friends, Colo and Virgil; his children, Joe Buffington of Blue Springs and Andrea Peel of Little Rock, Ark.; his grandsons, Kaleb Salmon and Braxton Peel; his brother Krandel Buffington; his sister-in-law Cindi Dueland (Dean); and his nieces and nephews, Dean Buffington (Jeannie), Toby McCarter (Heather), Patty Fraley, LuAnn Zumwalt (Rob), Sandra Oliver (Pete), Renee Maceli, Brooke Sanborn (John) and Teran Clutts (Josh). He is also survived by several great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends.
In lieu of flowers, in remembrance of Virgil, we ask that donations be made to Mercy One Hospice or Bickford Senior Living in Ames.
