She was predeceased by: her parents, John Gildersleeve and Bessie Gildersleeve; her husband Lester Shickell; and her great grandchild Lily Caroline. She is survived by: her children, Steven Shickell (Julie), Marilyn Anderson (John), Patricia Ashby (Ed) and Joyce Nichols (John).
Visitation was held on Saturday, January 18th 2025 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at the Grace Bible Church (308 Mathews Dr, Gilbert, IA 50105). A funeral service was held on Saturday, January 18th 2025 from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM at the same location. Ruth was awarded the 2004 Governor's Volunteer Award and was honored in 2017 by RSVP for volunteering over 20 years.
