He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Gassman and Elizabeth Gassman (Schibli); his brothers, Walt and Ronald; and his son Paul.
He is survived by: his wife Gail Evans; his siblings, Margaret Frederickson and Tedd Gassman (Jodee); his son Philip (Brigitte); his daughter-in-law Crystal Gassman (Paul); his grandchildren, Michael Gassman (Magdayln Stinson), Nicole Gassman, Mattias Gassman (Emily Marie), Tobias Gassman, Johannes Gassman, Katherine Luedtke (Jacob) and Caroline Gassman; and his great grandchildren, Ruth, Titus, Isaac, John Gassman and Sawyer Gassman.
Visitation was held on Saturday, February 15th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Calvary United Methodist Church (1403 24th St, Ames, IA 50010). A memorial service was held on Saturday, February 15th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Calvary Methodist Church (1403 24th St, Ames, IA 50010).
A memorial fund has been established to support the food pantry at Calvary Methodist Church and the Rosebud Lutheran Church in Rosebud, SD.
