He was predeceased by: his parents, Marion Hitchings and Alice Hitchings (Chinn) of Zearing, IA; and his brothers, James and Kenneth Hitchings. He is survived by: his wife Nora Nelson; his sons, Jeff Hitchings (Allison) of Waukee, IA and Matt Hitchings (Steph) of Des Moines, IA; his stepdaughters, Nicole Gade (John) of Ankeny, IA and Kelly Smith (Adam) of St. Louis Park, MN; his grandchildren, Claire, Molly, Thomas Hitchings, Griffin, Evee Gade and Kylie Kaiser; and his siblings, Jeanette Gibson of Burlington, IA and Chuck Hitchings. He is also survived by many nephews and nieces.
