It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Lester Wayne Shickell of Ames, Iowa, born in Colo, Iowa, who passed away on January 5, 2021, at the age of 102, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Floyd "Sidney" and Fern Shickell (Sawtell); his sister Doris Warren; and his great grandchild Lily Caroline. He is survived by: his wife Ruth; his children, Steve (Julie) of Ames, Marilyn Anderson (John) of Evergreen, Patricia Ashby (Ed) of Polk City and Joyce Nichols (John) of Urbandale; and his sister Audrey Kooyman of Ottumwa. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren.
There will be no visitation or public funeral due to COVID-19.
In lieu of flowers, any contribution in Les's honor may be given to Grace Bible Church, Gilbert, Iowa, or to Israel Family Hospice House.
