He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar Thrasher and Grace Thrasher (Newman); his spouse Shirley Ann Severeide; his daughters, Sue Price and Sharon Helling; and his siblings, Sophina Thrasher, Adel Randolph and Oscar Thrasher.
He is survived by: his granddaughter Sharon; his son-in-law Leon Helling (Jean) of Ankeny; his grandchildren, Austin Emery, Michael Emery, Jaclyn Stamm and Allison Dunn; and his siblings, Everett Thrasher of Boone, Roxanne Thompson of Zearing and Mara Webb of Texas. He is also survived by ten great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gilbert Lutheran Church.
