He was predeceased by: his parents, Russell Childs and Margaret Childs; his parents-in-law, Porter and Ione Vold; and his brother-in-law Rudy Thorsheim.
He is survived by: his wife Karen Vold; his daughter Kristen Sjobakken (Monte) of Ft. Collins, CO; his stepson Jeffrey Sutherland of Dallas, TX.; his grandchildren, Micheal Portel (Aslynn), Jessica Portel Tuttle (Micheal), Benjamin Sjobakken, Ellie Sjobakken, Cydney Sutherland, Dylan Sutherland and Mya Sutherland; his great grandchildren, Camden Portel, Jaxon Portel, Teigan Portel and Owen Tuttle; his sister Diane Larson (Virgil) of Maxwell, IA.; and his sister-in-law Jeanenne Stoker (Dave) of Des Moines, IA. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
