He was predeceased by: his parents, John Hughes and Ella Hughes (Eastman); his siblings, Floribel Cronshey, Blodwyn Courtney, Mary Cook and John "Buster" Hughes; and his stepson Gregory Lynn Sines (George Pugh).
He is survived by: his former wife Martha Hutchison; his wife Freda Sines; his children, Connee Hughes of Kansas City, MO, Michael Hughes of Medina, OH, Patricia Hilleman (Randy) and Sheree Irwin (Gary) of Weiser, ID; his daughter-in-law Joann Sines of West Jordan, UT.; and his grandchildren, Brian Henley (Carla), Michael Hughes Jr., Marcy Bean (Bob), Leslee Hilleman (Travis Wilkinson), Haley Tiedt (Nick), Gregory Sines (Rebekah), Benjamin Sines (Heidi), Nikki Bybee (Brad), Barry Sines, Kimberli Silvester (Jonathan) and Joseph Sines (Bethany).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Heartland Senior Services, Ames, Iowa.
