He was predeceased by: his sisters, Dorothy Ruskin and Mary Thomason; and his grandson Amos Nelson. He is survived by: his wife Jennie Maxine Severson; his children, Laverne of Des Moines, Lorraine Uitermark (Doyle) of Ames and Mary-Ellen Bartels (James) of Bennington, NE; his grandchildren, Tara Nelson, Michaela Bartels and Justin Bartels; his great grandchild Tyler Nyhus-Nelson; and his siblings-in-law, Duane Severson, Bonnie Severson, Elaine Smith and Juanita White. He is also survived by cousins; numerous nieces and nephews.
