He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Abel and Ida Abel (Steuber); and his siblings, Irma Weihert (Earl), Margaret Stenzel and Herbert Abel (Helen).
He is survived by: his wife Faye Heidelberg; his children, Gregory Abel (Michelle) of Bremmerton, WA, Kathleen Birdsall of Ames and Randal Abel (Lori) of Ames; his grandchildren, Shayna Abel, Ellie Colón (Anthony), Jake Birdsall and Riley Abel; his great grandchildren, Axton and Boston Colón; and his sister-in-law Frieda Clausen (Heidelberg). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
